ISSAC

Integrated Support System for Antibiotic Consumption | UX/UI

rsz_issac

Diagnostic uncertainty and unfamiliarity with local healthcare system leads expat patients in Europe to misuse antibiotics either from the pre-prescriptions brought from their country of origin or leftover antibiotics from previous health conditions.

ISSAC provides a constant healthcare support and creates awareness about Antibiotic consumption & AMR to such expat patients through a mobile application.

It is integrated with the existing local healthcare services through Healthcare policies, Doctors, Pharmacies and Health insurance companies.

Research and Development

Through research we got to know that there are almost 24 million expats in Europe region as of January 2021. And, most of these expats carry antibiotics from their home countries to Europe just to be safe.

Market

There are no such Applications in the market targeting AMR or Antibiotic Consumptions.

The scope of the ISSAC application is limited to Italy but can be developed across different regions and citizens with more knowledge base and promotion through different global healthcare initiatives.

Overarching Research Question

How do patients get over-prescribed with antibiotics and to what degree could they avoid it?

research

The objective of the research was to discover what pain points patients encounter when they deal with an illness they seek treatment for, what leads them to prefer antibiotics and identify motivators as opportunities for a decreased antibiotic consumption.

User Personas

We defined personas whose goals and characteristics represent the needs of the group of users. Click here to see the Doctors User Persona.

User Journey & Pain Points

We created a user journey where we map the main painpoints of our target user through the 5 main stages of the process of dealing with an illness, visiting the practitioner and consuming the antibiotics.

Key Opportunities

After our research we asked ourselves:

→ How might we provide guidance over misdiagnosis, waiting time, treatment period and make the patients more comfortable in taking the antibiotics.

→ How might we provide the doctors with monitoring over treatment period, feed them with important information about patients consuming the antibiotics.

→ How might we improve the existing established Ecosystem of local Healthcare service in terms of helping the Patients feel safe and have a quick and simple experience of getting prescribed medicines.

ISSAC → Solution
